This souvenir sheet features stamps representing Norse mythology. The stamp on the left pictures Skogsraet, a wood nymph, or "Lady of the Forest," and the one on the right Nacken, an apparently none-too-friendly water spirit who would lure people to watery deaths with his violin. The frog is in the right border.

Swedish Post says: "The third set of Top of the World of Stamps – Nordic Mythology focuses on mythical places. The Swedish stamps, two to a minisheet, depict a journey to the mythical Blåkulla och “Blue Mountain”. Conceptions of Blåkulla go back to the witch-hunting hysteria that culminated in Europe in the 16th and the 17th centuries. The journey to Blåkulla itself usually plays an important role in the myths surrounding the mountain where the witches´ sabbath was held at Easter, the Devil playing a central role." The collector's sheet is pretty cool, too.

According to Swedish Post web site: "The Swedish stamps honor two female authors who are separated by three-quarters of a century but share similarities in their writing styles. Elsa Beskow (1874-1953) and Lena Anderson (1939-) both weave a story while still including a pedagogical message." This illustration is from Beskow's "Children of the Forest" (1910).
