Each of these covers came with a booklet (in Korean and English) explaining the reason for the stamp issue: "the Ministry of Information and Communication each year issues special postage stamps featuring species of wildlife under threat. This time the Ministry has chosen the "golden frog" and the "Korean toad." The hope is that the stamps will raise awareness and encourage people to engage in conservation activities. On the back of the booklet the technical specifics are described: the printing process is Photogravure (six colors each), the paper is white and unwatermarked, and the printer is the Korea Security Printing and Minting Corporation.
