This set was issued for the Hula Nature Reserve, and the frog is a Hula Painted Frog (Discoglossus nigriventer). It was apparently believed extinct until it was rediscovered in November 2011 and is found in the Hula marshes (the draining of which in the 1950s led to its supposed extinction).

According to the pamphlet accompanying the stamps, the set "presents four of the seven amphibian species currently inhabiting Israel" and all four are endangered "locally or globally." The stamps above came in pairs that show the other two amphibians in the series, the Eastern Spadefoot Toad with a Southern Banded Newt and he Hula Painted Frog with a Near Easter Fire Salamander:
