Frogs of Botswana
This Fleetwood cahcet, part of their "Flora and Fauna of the World" series in conjunction with the National Audubon Society, has this to say about the Dainty Frog: "Many people in Botswana believe that frogs fall from the sky during heavy rains. The Kgatia consider frogs a vital ingredient when making their "rain medicine." Found in Eastern Botswana and the western Kalahari, the Dainty Frog chooses still water to lay its eggs. A cape fauna member, this frog was more than likely distributed by the Molopo River system.
Another cachet in the Fleetwood/Audubon series (see above). The Painted Reed Frog is described like this: " In parts of Botswana, a frog sitting at one's front door is considered a portent of pending misfortune. A frog inside the home of a pregnant woman, however, indicates she will give birth to a girl child. Able to leap relatively great distances, the Painted Reed Frog is distinguished by its call, which is a loud, piercing whistly repeated in two second intervals."
