Ajman

Ajman was part of a group of sheikdoms known as the Trucial States; a British Protectorate from the mid-nineteenth century, they gained independence and then combined to form the United Arab Emirates in 1971.   Of the many Ajman issues, few were for actual postal use, and Scott does not list this stamp, although Michel does.  I found two blog post discussions helpful in my research, one on collecting stamps of the Trucial States and one on postal issues of Ajman; this last states that only issues from 1964 and 1965 are accepted as valid by Scott.
