Werner & Metz was founded in 1867; in 1901, they began selling Erdal shoe polish and shortly after that created the frog logo, which is still in use today. They also have a line of environmentally-friendly products called Frosch (German for frog). The green frog logo was used between 1903 and 1918, when it changed to red. It "learned to laugh" in 1961 (e.g. it's smiling) and was "modernized" in 1971.
